(Grasshopper Teasing the Rooster)
Dive into the heart of Taiwan's countryside with Grasshopper Teasing the Rooster, a folk song that brings a traditional Taiwanese folk tune to life. Composer Chen Chung-Sheng has masterfully reimagined this ancient tune, infusing it with the rustic allure of rural landscapes. Employing a variety of playing techniques, the piece personifies the double flutes as a determined rooster and a nimble grasshopper, engaging in playful banter. The light-hearted sparring goes forth and back throughout, making this concerto a delightful exploration of interplay between two flutes.
